As we set sail into the seas of 2024, an abundance of fashion trends are on the horizon (ironically, one being a sailor-inspired style, according to Emma Chamberlain). And as you may know, many trends often make their way from the runway to clothing department stores, and, eventually, into homes. Take food in fashion, which caught on in 2023. Aesthetics like tomatocore and grocery girl popularized by celebrities on red carpets and social media became a home decor hit.
In 2024, we’re bound to see a host of new and exciting trends that could easily translate into home decor. Here are five worth keeping an eye on.
2024 Fashion-to-Home Trends to Watch

Sequins
Glamour noted in an article on fashion predictions for this year that sequins are “showing up in looks destined both for the dance floor and the office.” To take part in this y2k, dopamine-boosting style, invest in sequined throw pillows, wall art, and, obviously, disco balls. You can even display your favorite shimmery tops and skirts on a clothing rack.

Preppy
Spring runways from designers like Miu Miu, Bally, Loewe, Susan Fang, and Moschino showcased lines full of tailored button-downs and blazers, channeling a Cape Cod feel. Some home aesthetics already mirror a preppy look (dark and light academia, quiet luxury), but it's leveling up in 2024: Apply prep to your space with navy and pink color palettes, traditional patterns and materials, and equestrian and coastal motifs.

Idyllic Nature and Oil Paintings
Shows by Zimmermann, Carolina Herrera, Elise Saab, and more depicted the rise of designs influenced by pastoral and idyllic oil paintings as a way to elevate the spring florals you know so well, according to InStyle. In the home, you're likely to notice more oil paintings, nature-inspired art, cottagecore florals, and a dream-like feel this year.

Leopard Prints
Vogue predicted leopard print will see a major resurgence in 2024. The classic pattern never went out of style, but it's about to be everywhere—in wardrobes and in homes. Incorporate it as an accent with, lamps, rugs, and more, or make it a focal point with furniture, curtains, and wallpaper. Take what Vogue said for the fashion trend and tie it to decor: “Whether you’re leopard-curious and want to dip your toe in with some light accents, or if you’re ready to pedal to the metal, we predict that 2024 will be a big year for leopard print.”
Fringe
Fringe has appeared on our pillows, lampshades, and other accents over the past few years and its playfulness fits into the overarching trending eclectic style homeowners are adapting. InStyle reported that Bottega Venetia, Burberry, Gucci, Mugler, and Tom Ford all led their spring 2024 lines with fringe, but the strands are thinner than in previous years, making it “more subversive.”
